The M Awards recognize "Athletes on a Mission" - high school athletes who are exemplary role models in their communities. In its first year (2011), The M Foundation recognized over 40 high school student-athletes throughout the country with The M Award. The M Awards include Bronze Award winners, Silver Award winners, and an annual "Student-Athlete of the Year" Gold Award winner. Elite athlete role models including Serena Williams, David Wright, Mia Hamm, and many others are actively involved in selecting The M Award recipients throughout the year.
The 2012 application period for The M Awards is now closed. Recipients will be announced in June of 2012. Applications are already being received for the 2012-2013 Award cycle.
Each qualifying high school athlete will complete a short application about their athletic achievements, leadership and the ways in which they "give back" to their community. Selected athletes will be awarded one of three levels of recognition, which are collectively referred to as The M Awards:
BRONZE M AWARDS. A group of twelve (12) high school student-athletes are selected each year by the foundation's elite professional athletes to receive The Bronze M Award for their athletic and charitable achievements. This recognition award includes a personalized letter and signed certificate from an elite athlete, as well as a MISSION product kit.
SILVER M AWARDS. A group of six (6) high school student athletes are selected by the Spring of each year to be recognized with The Silver M Award, which includes a $1,000 college scholarship as well as a $1,000 donation to the local charity of the student-athlete's choice. Winners also receive a personalized letter and signed certificate from an elite-athlete, as well as a MISSION product kit.

THE GOLD M AWARD. Each year, one student-athlete is selected from the pool of M Award recipients for the year. Each of the qualifying recipients will be asked to submit a supplemental application detailing the student-athlete's vision for continuing to serve others in the future. The M Award Gold Medallion winner will be nominated through fan and athlete voting. They will be named "The M Award High School Athlete of the Year" and will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and a $5,000 donation to a charity of their choice, a total of $10,000. The M Award annual winner will be presented the award by an elite MISSION athlete at a major press event, and receive a letter, a framed certificate and a MISSION product kit.
